Today, I’ve decided to do a post on how to transfer printed images onto clay. It’s actually pretty easy and you don’t need to be a clay expert to do it!
You Will Need:
- Clay (Whatever Color You Want)
- A Printed Image
- Clay Glaze (Optional)
Step 1: First, you want to go online and find an image you like. It can be in color or black and white (it doesn’t matter)
Step 2: Then, you want to roll out a piece of clay that will fit your image
Step 3: Next, [with the image placed face down on the clay] firmly apply water on the paper (like a temporary tattoo). Your image should start to be visible. Then, let it soak for about 2 minutes before moving to the next step.
Step 4: After, dip your fingers into the water and carefully rub the paper once more until bits of paper start to come off. You have to be REALLY gentle because if you press too hard there is a chance your image will smudge.
Step 5: Once, you get all the paper removed (if you would like) cut all the excess clay off.
Step 6: According to your clays instructions bake your clay.
Step 7 (optional): If you want to, coat your clay in clay gloss
And Voila! You have successfully transferred your image!
This is how mine looked in the end:
